This weekend we travelled to Battle Creek for the Adray playoffs. Mikey was goalie for the first game and won 7-1. He nearly had a shutout, but the puck hit his stick and bounced over and into the net. Mite teams use half weight, blue pucks. Unfortunately for Mikey, most of his practice is done with full weight regulation pucks. A regular puck would have stayed out. Next time he’ll watch for the crazy bounce. He skated out (played a non-goalie position) for the second afternoon game and again, we won. I forgot the score though…something like 7-3 or 7-4. I dont know. I’m probably way off. either way…we won. We stayed at a local hotel for the evening as the roads were expected to get worse. We had to run to Target to buy overnight stuff, having planned to return home after the afternoon game.
Sunday morning…we lost to the very same team we beat in the championship in last weekends Tournament. We gave up 4 goals and never got them back on the scoring side. The other team just wanted it more. Mikey skated out on Sunday and I was really proud of the effort that he brought to the ice. He wasn’t called for offsides (usually gets at least one per game when playing out of net) and he really tried going after the puck. We still have 7-8 regular season games left and then its on to the off season. It’ll be nice having weekends again…even if its only for a short time.
